CU Philosophy Review
A department’s shared history includes how its philosophers found their questions and arrived at the work they now do. Much of that history lives only in conversation. CU Philosophy Review records these paths while the people who lived them can still tell their stories. We hope this will help current and future students understand the community they inherit and continue its record.
I co-founded the journal with Lee Kwok Shun in June 2026 after weeks of discussion. Two more editors joined us while we were preparing the first issue, and the four of us now make editorial decisions together. Professor Mang Fan-lun supervises the student-led journal.
First issue
We chose to dedicate the first issue to women in philosophy and their academic paths. Professor Park So-Jeong and Professor Ye Ru have generously agreed to share their experiences, and we are grateful for the time and trust they are giving us.
How we work
Before preparing an interview, we read the interviewee’s published work, so that the questions begin from what they consider central.
A second editor reviews every set of questions before it is sent. After the conversation, the interviewee reviews and approves the written interview before publication. That way, each interviewee retains control over how their words appear.
Editorial continuity
Founding an initiative matters less than making it something others can inherit. Editorial decisions are shared across the team, and we hold one standard for every piece. A first-year editor I met through the orientation camp is now learning the work, so the journal can continue after its founders graduate.
