I am a second-year undergraduate in philosophy at New Asia College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. My current project explores possible extensions of Liu Xiaogan’s methodology of Chinese philosophy. It began as four connected forum essays for History of Chinese Philosophy II. Classmates raised questions about the entries, and both teaching assistants responded to them in detail. Professor Cheng Chung-yi (鄭宗義) then invited me to develop the four essays into a paper for publication.

CU Philosophy Review
After weeks of discussion, I co-founded CU Philosophy Review with Lee Kwok Shun, and I serve as its Chief Editor. Professor Mang Fan-lun supervises the student-led journal. We were concerned that the personal and intellectual paths of philosophers at CUHK were passing out of memory. The journal records those paths through interviews, with the longer-term aim of building a shared history of the department that future students can inherit and extend. Two more editors have since joined us, and the four of us are preparing the first issue. Professor Park So-Jeong and Professor Ye Ru have generously agreed to be interviewed for the issue, which focuses on women in philosophy and their academic paths and is scheduled for October 2026.
Background
I came to philosophy late. I left a business programme at HKUST after two years, then spent five years in security work, reading on night shifts and saving for university. Older guards who had themselves changed careers urged me to return to school. My parents and former colleagues made that return possible; teachers and classmates at CUHK have helped me continue. I now try to pass that support on through the journal and the orientation camp.
